Packing & wrapping
Fifteen years in one house fills more cupboards than anyone remembers filling. Packing is the part of a move most families underestimate, and the part a crew does fastest.
Ways to run it
- Full pack, the day before.
The crew packs the whole house: kitchen, cupboards, wardrobes into port-a-robes, the garage into labelled cartons. You sleep in a packed house and moving day starts at the furniture.
- The fragile pack.
You pack the books and linen; we pack the kitchen, glassware, artwork and anything that would hurt to lose. The most popular middle path.
- Wrap only.
You pack every carton; the crew blanket-wraps furniture on the day as standard. This is included in every move, not an extra.
What the materials are
- Proper moving cartons in book and tea-chest sizes, not supermarket boxes
- Butcher's paper for wrapping; no newsprint ink on your plates
- Port-a-robes so hanging clothes travel hanging
- Padded blankets and stretch wrap for furniture, tape-free on timber
Packing time is charged at the same published hourly rates as the move, by the crew size doing the packing. What it costs depends on how much there is, which is why the honest answer starts with the load, not a flat figure.
Asked about packing
How long before the move should packing start?
For a full pack of a 4-bed house, the day before is usually right. If you are packing yourself, start the rooms you use least two to three weeks out; the kitchen goes last, and the kettle goes in the car.
Do you supply cartons if we pack ourselves?
Yes, ask in the quote form and we will include carton supply in the plan. Sturdy uniform cartons stack tighter in the truck, which genuinely shortens the load.
Can you pack the garage?
Gladly, and it is often where a packing crew earns its keep: tools, sports gear and half-finished projects take longer to pack well than any bedroom. See The double garage for how we approach it.
